The God of War
Sanctions is another method used by a few wealthy to enrich themselves and to punish the poor.
The wealthy use sanctions to “corner the market”. Currently Russia, Cuba, Iran, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Syria etc. are under Western sanctions. Iran is under sanctions since 1979 though businesses who are politically “connected” can trade with Iran as long as the politicians get a cut.
Example, Marc Rich (1934 –2013) was a global financier and “criminal”. He founded the commodities company Glencore and was indicted in the USA on charges of tax evasion, racketeering and making oil deals with Iran during the Iran Hostage crises. He lived in luxury in Switzerland and received a presidential pardon from Pres. Bill Clinton on January 20, 2001, Clintons last day in office. Rich’s ex-wife had made large donations to the Democratic Party in the USA.
Though the USA could have arrested Marc Rich, his wealth which was attained by selling Iranian oil, protected him. The USA found Saddam Hussain in a hole in the ground in Tikrit and “ostensibly” found Usama Bin Laden in Pakistan and Muammer Qaddafi in war torn Libya. Oddly, though Mr Rich was Jewish and supported Israel, this did not stop him from doing business with Iran’s Ayatollahs.
When it comes to “money and global politics”, wealth is the “God” that is deified and ideology and ethics and the lives of ordinary suffering people, in Iran, Yemen, Ukraine or Afghanistan is irrelevant.
The above example is repeated in history where the wealthy pay politicians for pardon. The same process happened in Afghanistan where Western businesses who paid the Taliban for protection during the 20-year Afghan War escaped liability. Nobody knows how much wealth was stolen from the Afghan people and the puppet regime during the occupation. Today, ordinary Afghans starve because of USA sanctions. Sanctions punishes the poor as the wealthy will find what they need on the “black market” or in the West. The latest sanctions on Russia is going to be no different.
Whilst the West is going to impose sanctions on other nation to stop them buying Russian oil etc. the USA and its friends already have their business people ready that will secretly buy the Russian oil. They did this during the war with Iran and Syria. The oil never stopped flowing.
Europe and Britain knows this, that is why they are not prepared to stop the flow of oil and gas etc.
Who cares if the West stops buying Russian Caviar and Vodka, does that help Ukraine?
Ironically as the petrol price increases globally, so does the profits of the oil companies. If the oil companies were sincere about Ukraine, why not decrease profits and allow the global petrol price to remain stable. But that would defeat the purpose of the war, which was always about making profit.
